keðja consists of international dance encounters. Each encounter has a different theme relating to contemporary dance in the Nordic/Baltic countries.
The keðja project is so far the vastest meeting platform for dance artists as well as educators, producers, scholars and academics, artists from other sectors and dancing youth to meet and address important issues within the contemporary dance field in the Nordic/Baltic region.
keðja's actvities have the last 3 years taken place in 8 countries. Artistic events, workshops, seminars and other kinds of exchange has taken place, empowering dance people from the whole Nordic-Baltic region.
The vision is to create: A permanent change of the position of North European contemporary dance, its mobility possibilities, the working conditions within the area and its status as an art form. Inherent in the keðja idea is also the possibility on a long term basis to create a network reaching further out, expanding and involving more countries.
The keðja project partners are:
- Dance Info Denmark, Dansens Hus, Copenhagen (projectleader)
- Dance Info Finland, Helsinki
- Dance Information Norway, Oslo
- Moderna Dansteatern, Stockholm
- Independent Theatres Association, Reykjavik
- The Union of Estonian Dance Artists
